Top end performance, decreasing maneuverability, and control, for stability, ease-of-use. This is not ideal for advanced riders riding in competitions and for the show.
We can now come up with your personal volume recommendation. Advance surfers are able to complete complex manoeuvres with confidence, control, and consistency.
Intermediate riders are progressive surfers capable of trimming the wave face. Developing their movements whilst completing half of the attempted moves. Catching roughly half or slightly more than half of your attempted waves. Beginner surfers are your first timers, learning to stand, focusing on their wave count. Fitness is an important consideration in surfing. Use the below table to multiply your above result by the factor used below. I got waves on the board, loved the easy duckdive, paddled easy into waves but it felt too small, too thin and all wrong for me. I could get up on my feet but do no maneouvres and it felt kooky and unstable.

Hey Hey im in progress of finding a second hand board. I over developed on my muscles i though going for a wider board for my short height might be good? She is starting to turn but the bigger board is a bit heavy. She would like to do surf competitions some day she says. We live in Oceanside so will do most of her surfing probably south pier. Im looking at getting a longboard for the really small days and want to know what size I should get.
This board will be primarily for ft slop and occasionally waist to chest high depending on whether I like longboarding. Thank you for the advice. If you have that kind of time and patience, go for it.
But would this be a good board to learn on? Where do you surf? So I would like to buy a longboard. Is 22,5 Width and 2, thickness good? At your height and weight, you should be able to get plenty of float, paddle and leverage with a board that size.
